LUANDA SIGHTSEEING

THE CAPITAL OF ANGOLA

Luanda and Miradouro da Lua

Vibrant city

Luanda is Angola’s capital and was founded in 1576. Today it has a population of about 10 million people. The original suburbs of Luanda are now closely interwoven with the city. During the civil war and in the period of economic growth afterwards, Luanda grew rapidly to the largest city in Angola.

In the old town, Baixa de Luanda, there are still some houses in the colonial style, including along the splendid promenade “Marginal”, the Ilha do Cabo and the offshore peninsula, which forms the Bahia de Luanda, the bay of Luanda.

Nature attractions and history

Most of the city’s sights are in the old core. From year to year the structures of the sights are further expanded.

Museums, monuments, the parliamentary buildings and the fortress of Sao Miguel are just a few of the fascinating buildings you can visit.

Miradouro da Lua is a tricolor karst formation that was carved out with erosion that was caused by the wind and rain, making this place to be looking like it is from another planet, or in this case moon.

What Our Clients Say

We, six people, had booked an individual excursion in Luanda through Angola Tourism. The contact was super from the beginning. We were there with our cruise ship; the pick-up went smoothly. We were travelling with two cars and three guides. Fernando, Felicio and Lando were very sympathetic, always ready to answer our questions and give us lots of information. We felt safe and in good hands at all times. They showed us beautiful and authentic corners of Luanda, but also outside the city. It was a very nice day all around and definitely recommendable. I can't say anything negative about this day. It was a highlight of our trip.

Frauke Duval-Zupp

Correspondence in German, Portuguese and English was smooth and without delay. The city tour offered was varied and took us to all the important points and sights. A visit to a typical market was the highlight of the tour, as it was very "close visit to a typical market was the highlight of the tour as it was very "up close and personal". Very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, considerate drivers. Acceptable offers in the supposedly "MOST EXPENSIVE CITY IN AFRICA", which is not true. true. All in all a great day in Luanda !!!!! Many thanks to Joao and his team, we will be happy to come again.
