Untouched nature

The Calandula Falls lie in the course of the Lucala River and are one of the highest in Africa with a drop of 105 m. Although the waterfalls outside Angola are not yet well known, they are among the most impressive natural wonders of Angola.

In contrast to the well-known African waterfalls, such as the Victoria Falls for example, the Kalandula Falls are still a haven of tranquility. Far away from mass tourism, one can often admire and enjoy this spectacle on its own. Here you can experience the real Africa.

Not only the view of the waterfalls is breathtaking, but also the number of photo opportunities that this natural spectacle offers from different angles is impressive.

Nature attractions and history

The province Malanje is rich in sights. The Pedras Negras “black stones” are a mystical place with an interesting history. The historic site was the venue of the resistance to the Portuguese.

Angola is one of the three countries in the world with the highest biodiversity. This is reflected especially in this region. Exotic plant life paired with rare animal species makes Malanje a breathtaking experience. Dive into the tropical forests of Angola and experience Africa in a very authentic way.

What Our Clients Say

The founder and Angolan local, Joao, went above and beyond to make sure I had a great time in beautiful Angola — and man, what a time I had! It truly exceeded all the expectations I could have possible had, and his service was top notch. Just left and already hoping to come back again. Thank you for showing me the beauty and culture of your country!

ANDI - Destination Chaser

We had an exceptional experience exploring Angola with Pure and Authentic Tourism. Joao and his team are superb hosts, helpful and caring. He will work around your requirements and suggest an itinerary that will fit your needs. Be sure to pick up the phone (via WhatsApp) and speak with him when planning, he will address your concerns, and explain anything and everything. Joao's personality is a huge attribute - he has great social skills, which you can see when he's interacting with strangers (be it villagers or officials) and also with his clients. Simply put - we enjoyed his company. We received assistance and care before and after our trip. Joao will help if you have any questions with the eVisa process, and he continued to help when our luggage was lost and only found after our departure. We felt safe with him, he drove very well, and was caring but not overzealous. Be aware - Angola is expensive. Everything costs a lot, be it a simple hotel room or a meal, only fuel is inexpensive. Within that sphere, Pure and Authentic Tourism's prices are reasonable, but Angola is not a "budget" tourist destination. Thank you for the great memories!

I was in Luanda for work and decided at the last minute to extend my stay for a week... I contacted Joao , the owner of Pure and Authentic Tourism, and in a couple of minutes he had a plan for the week set! Both the guides and Joao were very professional, flexible, knowledgeable and ready to answer my numerous questions ( ....). I arrived as a customer, but quickly they make me feel home and like a family member ....In 4 days we visited Kalandula falls ( staying at least a night at the Pusada overlooking the waterfall is a must do) , Pedras Negras, Quinca National park, had a boat ride up the Kwanza river, visited Sassa cave in Sumbe etc....Everything was well organized; food was great, the team flexible... Thanks to them My trip in Angola was simply great ( more than great in fact) , and I wish I had more time to visit more ! I hope to be back one day and will definitely contact Joao then! So many bad preconceived ideas about Angola are all over the Internet , but the reality is that Angola is a gem and I recommend every one to visit and to contact Joao and his team To really get the most out of it !
