Important to know

In order to be allowed to visit the gorillas, good health is a prerequisite. Infectious diseases can be transmitted from humans to gorillas, thus may at cold or flu, the animals cannot be visited! For the walk on rough and steep paths a good physical condition is required. For this trip you need a yellow fever vaccination. You must present a yellow fever vaccination in the form of an international original vaccination certificate. A malaria prophylaxis is recommended. For the chimpanzee and gorilla trekking a basic level of fitness is required BUT you don’t have to be a mountain climber to trek the gorillas, anybody can do it.

The journey begins with a warm welcome in Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé, followed by a picturesque drive to the bustling hub of Bertoua. The adventure then unfolds as you traverse the lush forest towns of Yokadouma and Di-mako, glimpsing buffalos and monkeys en route.

Crossing borders, you enter the Central African Republic, where the Dzanga Sangha National Park beckons with its renowned Dzanga Baï. Marvel at African Forest Elephants, Bongo, Sitatunga, and more, observing their natural social lifestyle from an elevated watchtower. Venture deeper into the park for an encounter with the elusive Western Lowland Gorillas in Bai Hokou, creating lasting memories of wildlife interactions.

Immerse yourself in community activities with the Ba’aka Pygmies, gaining insight into their unique way of life through a forest hunting net experience and traditional dances.
