What to see

Embark on an adventure of a lifetime at the Angola Climbing Festival in the stunning Serra da Leba. Set against the backdrop of the Huila plateau, this unique experience promises an unforgettable blend of nature, adrenaline, and camaraderie.

For those seeking an immersive experience, camping facilities are available at the festival site, just a leisurely 5-minute walk from the climbing area. Enjoy the convenience of showers and toilets on-site, ensuring your comfort during this exhilarating event. Alternatively, if you prefer the comfort of a hotel, we recommend securing your stay in Lubango, a picturesque 45-minute drive away.

Angolan Augusts are characterized by dry weather, making rain unlikely. The Serra da Leba temperature ranges from 9 to 29°C (48 to 85°F), with cool nights, so pack accordingly. Shield yourself from the strong sun with sun protection, and bring a good sleeping bag and warm jacket for chilly nights. Don’t forget your climbing gear – helmet, harness, rope, quickdraws, and belay device. A 70m rope is recommended for the lengthy climbs, many of which are trad routes.

For enthusiasts interested in bolting, a workshop on the first day awaits, and we encourage bringing stainless steel (316) bolts. If you’re a beginner, fear not – a dedicated area with top ropes, borrowed shoes, and harnesses awaits you. Sign up for the second weekend (August 23-25) if you’re new to climbing.

Before you embark on this thrilling journey, remember that a yellow fever vaccine is mandatory, and malaria preventative medication is advisable. International medical insurance is strongly recommended due to the healthcare system’s reliability concerns.

Act fast, as early sign-ups are recommended, and a waiting list will be in place if we reach capacity. Refunds are available before July 31st, with a 50% refund policy afterward. Make the most of your journey to Angola – sign up now for an adventure that promises unparalleled thrills and breathtaking sights.
